(The Post Millennial) – Twitter has failed to responsibly moderate content on its platform, says talk show host Bill Maher.
The comedian made the comments on Friday night, after Twitter put a sensitive content warning label on a Babylon Bee video.
The satirical Bee video shows a woman going into the Twitter headquarters. They show her ink-blots where she looks and sees Hitler.
“This is well within what satire has always been and the fact that they flagged this for being insensitive shows their complete lack of self-awareness about what the problem is,” Maher said.
“If that’s where the line is, you have failed, Twitter!”
Maher also said Twitter has failed in setting itself up as the judge of what can be posted.
“When you threw the New York Post off of Twitter, for talking about Hunter Biden’s emails, and it turned out that that was a real story, you’ve failed.”
“When you said we couldn’t read about whether COVID had come from a lab, you’ve failed.”
Ahead of discussing the Bee video, Maher said he just found out about the site and referred to it as a Christian version of The Onion.
“Because everyone needs that,” one of his guests quipped.
Maher immediately took him to task for his comment, saying, “Well, some people do! They’re not all you and me, OK? … Have a little humility!” to applause from the audience.
