LOL: Netflix Gives Meghan Markle The BAD News…

(TPM) – Netflix has dropped several children’s shows that were until now on the drawing board, due to their sharp drop in revenue. One of these is “Pearl,” the animated miniseries by Meghan Markle.

The show was allegedly “in the development stage” and was to be loosely based on Markle’s own childhood. It would have followed 12-year-old Pearl, who finds inspiration from a number of influential women throughout history.

According to the Daily Mail, “Markle and Prince Harry, her husband, established Archewell Productions in autumn 2020 in an effort to create scripted series, docuseries, documentaries, features and children’s programming. Pearl was expected to be the first animated series created by the production company.”

The often-controversial Netflix in the past several days has also had to let staff go and drop two other children’s shows which were already in the production stage: Dino Daycare, and Boons and Curses.

Netflix also mentioned that The OA, Marco Polo and The Punisher will no longer have their contracts renewed after their respective second seasons end, leaving all three shows hanging without a conclusion.

Narcos and Jessica Jones also will not, at least for the time being, see themselves past the end of their third season.

At this time, the exact number of people let go by Netflix is not entirely clear, but the layoffs appear to have affected at least 10-15 people.

Archewell still has another deal going with the ailing streaming giant, however, that of “Heart of Invictus,” which deals with the Invictus Games recently held in The Hague, Netherlands.

According to the Daily Mail, the streaming giant reportedly shelled out $100 million in the deal with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in September 2020. They have yet to produce any content for Netflix.
