(BLP) – GET WOKE GO BROKE – Last week Big Leauge Politics reported on Netflix and its new “culture memo” that took a hardline stance against woke employees who publicly voiced grievances over the content they deemed “harmful.”
The memo, perhaps most notably, even went as far as to say: “if you’d find it hard to support our content breadth, Netflix may not be the best place for you.”
Some speculated that this was Netflix’s first step in moving away from woke content entirely. This is panning out to be true in some sense as the streaming giant just axed Dr. Ibram X. Kendi’s show, “Antiracist Baby,” amongst other titles.
Per a report from Variety, Kendi’s “Antiracist Baby” was one of three animated shows Netflix decided to pull the plug on.

The others were the “Wings of Fire” series, and a film titled “With Kind Regards From Kindergarten.” All three were allegedly geared to be marketed as content intended for children as young as preschool.
Sources from Netflix told Variety, “the decisions not to move forward with these projects were creative rather than cost related, meaning they would have taken place regardless of the company’s slower revenue growth.”
Kendi also lost another project titled, “Stamped: Racism, Antiracism and You.” According to Variety, this project is described as “a hybrid documentary and scripted feature that delves into race in the United States.”

But wait there’s more – Netflix has also canceled the feminist animated series from Meghan Markle. Which was originally intended to “revolve around a 12-year-old girl ‘on a journey of self discovery’ inspired by the legacy of famous women from history.”
According to a report from Page Six from May 1, “the executive producer on the series — which was being created through Markle’s and hubby Prince Harry’s Archewell Productions — was Elton John’s husband David Furnish.”
After news of these canceled programs, it’s clear that Netflix is making changes to its content strategy to combat its tanking subscriber counts. From what many believe has stemmed from the company’s overt focus on woke programming over recent years.
Thanks to a massive drop-off in revenue growth, 150 U.S.-based employees lost their jobs at Netflix this past week.
It seems as though the streaming service giant is now turning to more family-friendly entertainment and leaving the woke content to other networks.
Perhaps this is a win for conservatives who have long argued that Hollywood needs more positive, patriotic, and traditional programming. Simply switching to alternative companies when Netflix decided to listen to its small minority of woke employees instead of its stakeholders.
Time will tell if this trend continues or if Netflix doubles down on its commitment to social justice warriors. One thing is for certain from all this – money talks.
