BOOM! Elon Musk Cleans House at Twitter, Fires CEO

(Slay News) – In a major power move almost immediately after taking control of Twitter, new owner Elon Musk has fired several top executives, including now-former CEO Parag Agrawal.

Musk fired Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and Vijaya Gadde, head of legal policy, trust, and safety, The Washington Post reported.

As Slay News previously reported, Gadde was known as Twitter’s “censorship chief” and was instrumental in the company’s decision to ban President Donald Trump.

The report said Musk also fired the company’s general counsel, Sean Edgett.

Chief customer officer Sarah Personette was also pushed out.

Shortly before the execs were fired, Musk triumphantly tweeted “the bird is freed.”

Musk’s acquisition of the company was finalized Thursday, as Slay News confirmed.

Business Insider reported Thursday evening as the company’s stock was purchased for the agreed price of $54.20 per share in a deal worth $44 billion.

The news comes as Musk visited the company’s San Francisco headquarters this week, bringing a sink with him on the first day.

“Entering Twitter HQ – let that sink in!” Musk tweeted.

Musk changed his Twitter bio to “Chief Twit” and updated his location to “Twitter HQ.”

Musk himself will take over as CEO, a source reportedly told Bloomberg – although it may only be an interim role.

The fired Twitter executives were hastily escorted from the building after being fired, sources told The Washington Post.

Billionaire Musk is set to hold a company-wide town hall meeting on Friday.

Twitter’s engineers could no longer make changes to code as of noon Thursday in San Francisco.

The move was part of an effort to ensure that nothing about the product changed ahead of the deal closing,

Musk has previously said he did not have confidence in Twitter’s management and initially vowed to cull 75 percent of the workforce when he formally bought the Big Tech giant.

Agrawal, who has repeatedly clashed with Musk over the number of users Twitter has, will walk away from his job with $42 million, after being the CEO for just under a year.

His total compensation for 2021 was $30.4 million – largely in stock awards.

He was handed the top position following Jack Dorsey’s resignation last November.

Twitter’s “censorship chief” Gadde, who earned $17 million in 2021, was reportedly in tears in April when Musk’s $44 billion takeover first came to light.

She has now been paid out $12.5 million as Musk had her marched from the building by security, Insider said.

Ex-CFO Segal – another key player behind Trump’s Twitter ban – also received the handsome sum of $25.4 million after being fired by Musk on Thursday evening.

And former CCO Personette was handed $11.2 million as part of Musk’s house clearance.

More layoffs are expected to come at the company as Musk plans to shed the bloated workforce of “woke” employees.

His next move will be to restore Twitter users who have been handed lifetime bans from the platform, including President Donald Trump.
